Preparing your manuscript
What every Palmyra journal asks of a manuscript before it goes to review. Each journal's author guidelines are authoritative: PJML, PJBSI.
Article types and length

- Review articles: report the databases, date range, exact search strings, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and a PRISMA flow diagram where the design calls for one. A narrative summary of convenient sources is not a review article.
- Case studies: say why the case was selected, how access was obtained, what consent was given, and what the case can and cannot support. Anonymising the organisation is acceptable; undisclosed anonymisation is not.
- Commentaries are labelled as commentary. Where one concerns a specific paper, its authors are offered a right of reply in the same issue.
The file
DOCX or ODT, double-spaced, in a 12-point serif typeface, with continuous line numbering. The work must not have been published before or be under consideration by another journal. A preprint is not prior publication (see preprints and self-archiving). Figures, tables, images or long quotations taken from other works need permission to publish them under CC BY 4.0, or must be marked as excluded (see third-party material).
Preparing for anonymised review
Remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgements and self-identifying citations from the main file. Supply them only in the submission's metadata.
Abstract and keywords
A structured abstract of no more than 250 words, and 4 to 6 keywords.
References
APA 7th edition. Every reference that has a DOI includes it.
Reporting results
Empirical papers report effect sizes and confidence intervals, not p-values alone; name the analytic software and its version; and state where the data and analysis code can be obtained.
Declarations
Include statements on data availability, funding, conflicts of interest and ethical approval. Disclose any use of generative AI in the methods, naming the tool and what it was used for (see the generative AI policy).

- Data availability, funding, conflict-of-interest and ethical-approval statements
- Any use of generative AI disclosed in the methods
- Any preprint declared at submission, with its address
- Permission, or a CC-compatible licence, for every third-party figure, table or image
